Electric solar ferry Usedom
Business segment: Electric ships
Project details
Emission-free inland waterway vessel for passenger transport
The new electric solar-powered ship replaces a conventional ferry that was used on the Usedom destination until recently. This will save around 20 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. Solar panels and high-performance batteries provide the electricity required for the passage between the mainland and the island of Usedom. The ferry will travel at a service speed of 8 kilometres per hour. A maximum speed of 15 km/h is possible.
